On September 29, 2024, the FCJ Christian Life Centre opened its doors to around 80 guests after the 10:00am Sunday Mass at St. Mary’s Cathedral. This event offered an ideal opportunity for visitors, many of them are discovering the FCJ Centre for the first time, to explore the facility, learn about its historical background, and discover the wide range of programs it offers.
Guests were invited to view a special display of Indigenous artwork showcased in the Centre’s lobby, emphasizing the Centre’s commitment to honoring Indigenous culture and promoting reconciliation. To show their support, staff and FCJ Sisters assisting with the Open House wore orange shirts, symbolizing solidarity with the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and honoring the journey toward healing.
A warm and welcoming atmosphere was evident as guests enjoyed coffee, tea, and beverages along with homemade goodies. This hospitality provided a chance for the guests to connect and engage in conversation about the Centre’s mission and the various programs it offers, as well as getting to know one another. This event paved the way for the FCJ’s Executive Director Whitney Nagasan, to introduce the FCJ Centre’s Sisters and staff to the guests. She encouraged attendees to explore the FCJ Centre’s website for information on upcoming programs and to engage with the Midweek Reflection, a series shared through the Centre’s social media platforms. Whitney further highlighted the Centre's efforts to honour the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
The Open House was a great success, creating meaningful connections and allowing the FCJ Centre to introduce its spiritual, educational, and community-focused initiatives to a new and existing audience.#
