The holiday spirit filled the air at the FCJ Centre last Sunday, December 15, as its first-ever Christmas bazaar headed by Rita Khanchat, associate director. Santa’s Sleigh Stop welcomed nearly 300 attendees. Running from 10 am to 6 pm, the event attracted many first-time visitors, including parishioners of St Mary’s Cathedral, who enjoyed the festive atmosphere.
Santa made a special stop, offering free photos with the Elf. Kids also participated in a Christmas card crafting station while browsing the offerings of 12 local vendors in a cozy, holiday-themed setting.
The bazaar aimed to support small businesses, a vital part of the local community. Vendors were thrilled with the opportunity, with one saying, “It’s great to connect with the Centre and bring people together. We need more events like this.” Another vendor appreciated the chance to expand their network and shared, “I hope to be invited back next year.” A local artist expressed joy at introducing his work to the public, promising to return for future events.
Volunteers also had a wonderful time, with many eager to help again. Their positive feedback highlighted the event’s success in creating a warm, welcoming environment for all.
The success of “Santa’s Sleigh Stop” has sparked excitement for future initiatives at the FCJ Centre, strengthening community ties and supporting local talent. This festive event will be remembered as the start of a cherished holiday tradition. #
